Guntersville Eagles - February 18, 2012
Women’s Day Hike & Eagle Watching
February 18, 2012
Lake Guntersville is known for it’s great fishing but not all the fishermen ride in a bass boat! The most graceful fisher of the waters is the bald eagles. In January and February, Lake Guntersville becomes a nesting spot for migrating eagles and they are magnificent to watch as they soar and dive! Spend a day wandering the trails of Guntersville State Park, looking for eagles, and enjoying the wilderness and company of a few friends. Starting at the lodge, we will follow the Lodge, Lickskillet, Meridith, and Golf Trails for a easy to moderate 4-4.5 mile loop overlooking Town Creek.
Be sure to dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes. Bring water and your camera. A good pair of binoculars would be a great idea as well! After we get off the trail, we can grab a quick bite for lunch before heading home.
