Lost Sink - January 22, 2012

Jann_keel

Calling all Born Wild Women! Now is the time to break out of the holiday hibernation and get back out side! Join us for a short hike thru the Keel Mountain Preserve up to Lost Sink. A ‘sink’ is a common feature in the north east Alabama mountains. These sinkholes are the places where the ground has started to fall into the cave system below ground and usually carved over the years by water. Lost Sink is about 60 feet across, 60 feet deep, and when the water is up, the waterfall is impressive! The trail thru the preserve is easy and scenic. It is about 1.5 miles one way with only a slight elevation gain. Along the way there are great views of the Hampton Cove valley below!

Join us as we explore this little known gem, get to hang out with a few other women, and enjoy God’s creation!
