X-Girls Fanning Trail Day Hike

"Prepare Your Heart for the Season"

December 3, 2011

Rocks trail

The Huntsville Land Trust has a jewel of a property right under our nose.  The Blevins Gap Preserve is almost 1000 acres of rocks, trails, and dense forest covering Huntsville and Green Mountains.  A perfect wild place to explore on a Saturday morning!

X-Girls are planning a hike for Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 7:30am on the Fanning Trail in Jones Valley.  They’ll meet bright and early at 7:30am at the Church of the Nazarene’s parking lot on Cecil Ashburn Drive.  This is a moderate to difficult hike that is approximately 4 miles round trip.  Bring water for the hike and we will have coffee and beignets at The Coffee Tree afterwards.  This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for 100XChurch women to prepare their hearts for the holidays.  Contact Robin Turner for more information at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The Fanning trail starts off with a strenuous climb of 600-feet then follows the mountain's contour just below the Ledges golf course.  You will hardly notice the traffic speeding along Cecil Ashburn Drive 200-300 feet below our path!  The trail ends at Blevins Gap (elevation 1300 ft)!
